Every single person has started their fitness journey for a very particular reason or reasons. We call this our “Why”. It’s why we started to make positive changes to our health in the first place.

I can still remember mine. Growing up I was always a lot smaller than everyone else. As a teenager I was short and skinny and I was very self conscious about it. So, I knew I needed to get bigger and stronger. I will always remember the feeling of not having any muscle and not being very strong.

Why is remembering your “Why” a crucial part of your fitness journey?

During one’s fitness journey life is going to continue knocking you down. So far, I believe 2020 has kicked almost everyone in the ass. How we choose to deal with this is totally up to us. We can feel sorry for ourselves, make excuses, and keep falling further and further behind.

OR….we can face it head on. The good thing about facing adversity head on is, we get to grow as individuals, in all areas of our lives.

For the sake of this blog, we will keep it to health and fitness.

I know COVID, mandatory lock downs, negativity on social media, and all this hate going on in the world can add a lot more stress and anxiety to our lives. Health and fitness gets put on the back burner. Motivation and energy levels are at an all time low.

How on earth are we going to get back on track?? Well it’s actually pretty simple. REMEMBER YOUR WHY!!!!

Now when trying to figure out “WHY” you started in the first place, it’s crucial that you put an emotional attachment to it.

My emotional attachment, “girls won’t like me and I’ll get beat up because I’m small and skinny”. That’s a big deal when you’re 16 years old. I can still remember that feeling.

It’s much more powerful than let’s say something like “I want to lose weight” or “I want to get in shape”. Those goals just won’t cut it. “WHY” do you really want to lose weight, or “WHY” do you want to get in shape.

It’s probably more  like “I want to be around to watch my grandkids grow up” or “I want to feel comfortable in my own skin”. These “WHYS” will give you a much better chance of succeeding or even finding your way back when life kicks you in the ass.

If you are currently struggling with staying on track, or just can’t find that motivation….. you know what to do. And if you can’t find it, ask someone that can help you find it!
